Report: Court discontinues Rambler’s case against Twitch

MOSCOW, Dec 20 (PRIME) -- The Moscow City Court has dismissed a 180 billion ruble lawsuit filed by media holding Rambler Group against U.S. streaming service Twitch for violation of its rights for broadcast of the English Premier League’s matches, business daily Kommersant reported on Friday on its website.

“The court ruled to terminate proceedings on the case,” the court said.

Rambler Group dropped the claim on Wednesday and signed an amicable agreement with Twitch, which doesn’t stipulate payment of any compensation.

The media holding was seeking to recover 180 billion rubles from Twitch as it had counted 36,000 cases of violation of its rights and has multiplied their number by the ultimate compensation of 5 million rubles each. Experts said the amount was the biggest in the country’s court practice in the industry.
